Questions about our bulbs and bases
Our bulbs use a traditional tungsten filament to produce light through thermal radiation — the same way the sun works. This creates a smooth, continuous spectrum with zero blue light spikes. LEDs produce light through blue-pumped phosphors, which emit a sharp blue light peak that can disrupt your circadian rhythm and suppress melatonin production.
CRI (Color Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source reveals colors compared to natural sunlight. A score of 100 is perfect — it means colors appear exactly as they would under natural light. Most LEDs score between 80-90, which is why rooms can look flat or washed out. With our CRI 100 bulbs, skin tones look natural, fabrics show their true color, and your space looks the way it was meant to.
Yes. Our Classic Warm Bulb uses a standard E26 base, which is the most common socket type in US homes. It fits any lamp, ceiling fixture, or wall sconce that accepts a standard household bulb.
Absolutely. Unlike many LEDs that buzz, flicker, or only dim to 20%, our incandescent bulbs provide smooth, flicker-free dimming across the entire range — from full brightness down to a soft, barely-there glow. They're compatible with all dimmer switches.
Our Classic Warm Bulbs are rated for 1,000+ hours. With average evening use of 3-4 hours per day, that's approximately 8-12 months per bulb. We believe the health and quality-of-life benefits far outweigh the replacement schedule.
Incandescent bulbs do use more electricity than LEDs. Our 60W bulb costs roughly $0.50/month more to operate than an LED equivalent (based on average US electricity rates and 4 hours/day of use). Many customers consider this a small price for better sleep, improved color rendering, and zero flicker.
The Artisan Base is our premium lamp base with a built-in dimmer and weighted base for stability. It's designed to pair perfectly with our Classic Warm Bulb. Final production specifications are currently being confirmed — we'll update this page once details are finalized.
Pre-orders
How pre-ordering works
A pre-order means the product is not yet in stock but is available to purchase in advance. You'll be charged at the time of purchase to secure your order. Once production specifications are finalized, we'll email you with the confirmed details and you can choose to proceed or cancel. Your order ships once stock becomes available.
You will be charged at the time you place your pre-order, not when the item ships. This secures your spot and guarantees your price.
Yes. When we email you to confirm production specifications, you can reply to cancel and receive a full refund. You can also contact us at support@bulbara.com at any time before your order ships.

We stand behind our products. If you receive a defective bulb or base, contact us immediately at support@bulbara.com. We'll send a replacement at no cost — no return required for defective items.
Once we receive your return, refunds are processed within 5-7 business days. The refund will appear on your original payment method. Depending on your bank, it may take an additional 2-5 business days to appear on your statement.
Health & Science
The science behind better light
Blue light from screens and LED bulbs suppresses melatonin production — the hormone that tells your brain it's time to sleep. Exposure to blue light in the evening can delay sleep onset by 30 minutes or more and reduce sleep quality. Our incandescent bulbs produce zero blue light spikes, allowing your body's natural melatonin production to proceed normally.
Our bulbs produce a smooth, continuous spectrum similar to sunlight and candlelight. While they emit a tiny amount of light across all wavelengths (as all thermal light sources do), they do not produce the sharp blue light spike at 450nm that is characteristic of LEDs and is primarily responsible for circadian disruption.
Incandescent bulbs produce negligible electromagnetic fields compared to LED and CFL bulbs, which contain electronic driver circuits. Our bulbs also produce zero perceptible flicker — they heat a filament to produce light, so the output is smooth and continuous. LED flicker, even when imperceptible, has been linked to headaches and eye strain in some individuals.
